Weekly AMA with Zine Laabidine Rezig, CEO, founder, software architect and lead developer of 3DCoin / Project Districts, held on Friday 25 October 2019.

This is a weekly AMA, so every week, every Friday, unless exceptional cases that will be communicated in advance, or unexpected events, an AMA will take place in our official international/english Telegram group.

📋 Do not hesitate to participate in the next Friday's AMA, we are waiting for you! 📌
    👉 Telegram group: https://t.me/Project_Districts 🗨 👥

Please note: Some questions and answers have been selected and partly reworked and listed in different order or grouped by topic for editorial reasons and in general for better readability and usability, in short, an editorial cut is given but without the intention of distorting the meaning and the content.
Some questions are transversal to the various main topics so they have been grouped under a topic that has been considered suitable but could also be read in reference to other topics.
For what concerns any upcoming / future partnerships, any anticipations discussed in the chat during the AMA that mentions possible names of other parties/entities (for example, other companies or exchanges) awaiting official announcements could be left out of the log as it is to be considered an informal discussion in chat and so for now we leave them to the informality of a chat.
The main purpose of this log is to provide users with all the technical topics discussed in order to have any answers to technical and operational issues at hand, so the rest of the topics not strictly related to technical / operational questions may not find space in this log at the discretion of the content editor.
However, the entire original AMA can be viewed in full, starting from the following message in the official Telegram group:

In addition, as already happened on the occasion of the previous AMA, this AMA was also a "trending" event 📈 on CoinMarketCal from the previous day and during the day of the event! That is the most voted event for several hours, a result achieved thanks to the support of our fantastic 3DCommunity and of which we are particularly proud!
This time we also managed to overcome the "psychological" threshold of the 100 votes, so we are very satisfied with the commitment of our great community!

As happened for the previous AMA, this time too during the previous days the users of the Telegram group had the chance to post their questions in advance, so a list of questions was prepared to be answered at the beginning of the AMA. Then of course further questions were asked live during the AMA.
The list of questions collected before the AMA is available at this direct link in our Telegram group:

🔵 Brief overview of the topics of this AMA 🔵

This AMA was particularly expected by 3DCommunity and above all by the many masternode operators that in the previous days had to face various "urgent" updates (hotfixes) due to the splitchains that occurred just in the previous days. The problems that created a considerable extra work for the team and for the community, especially for masternodes owners, were promptly solved within a few hours by the team and the network had already returned to normal operations even before the AMA, but for obvious reasons, even just for the curiosity to know the technical details of which many of our users are passionate (both advanced users and newbies), the main topic of the AMA was precisely that relating to the splitchain problems of the network.
As always, there was also talk of Virtual Reality which is the mainstream topic of our project and there was also time for some assistance and support to users in solving the problems of sync of their nodes, assistance provided directly by the Lead Dev during the AMA (this part is obviously omitted from the log as it is not a general topic, but you can still find everything in the original messages on Telegram).

    🔷 AMA's Questions and answers 🔷

🔹 Questions and answers related to splitchain problems and subsequent updates released in the previous days🔹

Note: To better understand the main topic of this AMA, that is the problems that occurred on the 3DC network and solved in the days prior to the AMA, we recommend reading this important update:
    https://3dctalk.net/topic/1247/fork-hot-fix-update-v0-14-6-2-23-oct-2019

    Question:
Can you tell us the mechanics of what happened at fork?
(Note: The question means with "fork" not the programmed update fork but the splitchains problems mentioned above.)

    Answer:
A fail-safe was triggered when a large number of nodes goes offline at the same time, we build this to ensure that the blockchain continues in case of a network attack.

    Question:
Only 5% of my nodes were on right chain and not only mine - most nodes were on fork. So, how come that the "right" chain was where overall minority of the nodes were? How the "right" chain was defined and why it was not the chain with support of the majority of nodes?

    Answer:
When the last had many sub forks, we had 37% of the network on the current chain, and the rest was divided into many sub-forks, so we had to follow the 37% to stabilize the network. After the POSync fork, the network will be always connected to one main chain, no more forks.
(Note: "POSync fork" means the programmed "fork" which will further update our "Proof Of Sync" protocol, that is the "first industry" consensus protocol by 3DCoin based exclusively on masternodes, without traditional mining and without classic staking.)

    Question:
Will the 800k height be changed? Have you decided a new deadline? Or you are evaluating chain status before decide it?
(Note: The question refers to the previously programmed block height, scheduled for early November, in which the fork programmed with the updating of the protocol and many new expectations for our network should take place. See previous AMAs for more details.)

    Answer:
Of course, we have to make sure the network is stable before activating new features. We have not yet decided on the deadline, we will set the fork block height on the day of the release. We are evaluating the status of the network.
    (Note: See also https://3dctalk.net/topic/1247/fork-hot-fix-update-v0-14-6-2-23-oct-2019 )

    Question:
How is the network health looking now?

    Answer:
Is good, but many nodes are still using the old protocol, which will lead to another fork.

    Question:
When do you plan to upgrade?

    Answer:
Asap, we wait for the network to stabilize first.

    Question:
Do we have to do anything with our coins already deposited on Crex24 exchange? I bought some coins not long ago and I currently have them on Crex24. Does this whole situation with chain affect these coins in any way?

    Answer:
No, your coins on Crex24 are not affected.

    Question:
I had few nodes running in a wrong split/fork chain and those nodes received a lot of rewards. When I turned them to main chain all rewards received (while the nodes were on the wrong chain) are gone. Does this mean if in any way nodes get back to the wrong split/fork chain those coins will be back?

    Answer:
Yes, but the other chain is useless, you can't spend it anywhere.

🔹 Development and project general questions and updates / Marketing and project management related questions / Listings and partnerships questions🔹

    Question:
Given the complex nature of 3DC and Districts with it's wide range of features and application, is the team working on new video/illustrated content that can streamline the education process for new community members? E.g. Infographics/Video presentations - something that can make the overall concept easier to absorb.

    Answer:
Yes, we are trying to provide more simplified contents which will take the time of course, but we do what we can when we have time for it. we hope the community can help with such task.

    Question:
Last week you mentioned an invitation to the 2020 NA Bitcoin conference, will the team be attending this, and are you considering any additional conferences to present at in the near future?

    Answer:
Yes, we are planning to participate in more events to present the new 3DC features to everyone.

    🔹Districts Virtual World / DVS / Dapps / Virtual Reality related questions🔹

    Question:
As the Districts Universe is focused on a highly immersive experience with photo-realism, has the team given any thought about utilizing the CryEngine5 over Unreal Engine 4?

    Answer:
Districts developments require more than a standard game engine like CryEngine, Unity, etc. We chose UE4 because is an open-source engine where developers can add custom libraries like 3DCoin blockchain and p2p, and because of the built-in cross-platform and VR devices support.

    🔸 🔸 🔸 🔸 🔸 🔸

    🔹 Masternodes / Primenodes / Pulsenodes related questions🔹

    Question:
What defines nodes identity - tx+priv. key, just tx, or something else?
(Note: The question refers both to the possibility of keeping your own masternodes activated with the current 1k 3DC collateral even after the next upgrade fork in which the collateral will increase to 25k 3DC but it will also be a "temporary" and unlockable collateral, an absolute novelty introduced by 3DC, both to the next possibility to "tokenize" the node ownership, another absolute novelty introduced by 3DC.)

    Answer:
We use the collateral transaction id (txid) to identify the masternodes in the network.

    Question:
To confirm again: if i'll migrate my node from my VPS to a masternode hosting provider with the same TX but, obviously, hosting provider will give me different "node private key" it still would be considered the same old MN and will be valid after upcoming fork (ofc if met condition of 2 payments obtained in known ways and times)?

    Answer:
Yes, the node will be considered valid.

    Question:
The updated hotfix with wallet v0.14.6.2 released yesterday highlights a new node count - Primenodes, for the broader crypto community can you elaborate more on what Primenodes are and how do they function?

    Answer:
The Prime layer is a decentralized hosting service for in-chain dapps, storage or private servers for web applications. The Primenode also act as a DNS for dapps and other services.

    Question:
So another way to describe the Primenodes layer is a distributed cloud/virtual machine for Dapps storage, with an added DNS function? Secondly, will a user within Districts VR World require client-side download of Dapps they interact with, and if not - will latency be an issue if the Primenode hosting the dapp is rather remote?

    Answer:
We have the Pulsenodes for that, is the only layer the Districts client will connect to, it will be the load balancer between the client and the Primenodes layer.

    Question:
I got some nodes on the right chain during the splitchain problems of the past days, updated them after the wallet update, but didn't need to restart them. I always thought a protocol version upgrade needs a node restart.

    Answer:
Yes, a new start using the new protocol 70218 is always recommended, because on the next update we will drop the support for 70217 protocol. If your nodes still registered as 70217 you will automatically lose your ranking and start again.

    Question:
Will they also not be counted as a legit masternode if the 70217 is registered during the fork?

    Answer:
No, what I meant, by the next update all nodes running 70217 will be disconnected from the network
(Note: This, indirectly, for the reasons that have already been explained in the last few months would lead the masternodes not to satisfy the expected requirements as they would not be valid nodes at the time of the programmed fork. Therefore it is necessary to update your masternodes now to the latest version available both of the software v.0.14.6.2 and of the protocol 70218, also through a new start in the control wallet, to be ready for the next update. Please don't postpone the activities required for your nodes!)

    🔹 Other technical questions🔹

    Question:
With the advent of Quantum computers in the near future, has the team considered the effects this may have on Post-quantum cryptography and public key security? Specifically, how is 3DC planning to adapt to this new technology?

    Answer:
The only thread I can think of regarding the quantum computers is in the pow mining, even with a quantum processor, there is a very low possibility to generate an existing private key.

    Question:
Anonymity is both a valuable feature of cryptocurrency, but also an obsticle for regulators - how does 3DC tackle Anonymity in regards to VR-shopping with real-world consequence? For example, distribution of products, privacy and online identity?

    Answer:
So, of course, there is another sub-community in crypto geared towards privacy coins, but this also rubs against regulators on AML/KYC laws and use. Maybe we can have 'opt-in' privacy to utilize certain Dapps with the respective products, and an 'opt-out' privacy for Dapps that require such AML checks (E.g. Exchanges, licensed products).
